Windows media player plugin lets you play videos or audios directly from the web server. But since this can consume large amount of bandwidths, then you could disable this plugin.
Firefox 3 makes it easier for you to disable plugins. First Click TOols > Add Ons menu on the menu bar, then click on Plugins tab and choose Disable on Windows Media Player Plug in Dynamic LInk LIbrary.
After you have disabled the add-ons, then click the Restart Firefox button to restart firefox so firefox can save and reload the configuration.
After this, your bandwidth consumption will be smaller. This is beneficial especially when you are using non-unlimited internet connection.
I was just reading the method to make Vista basic can activate it’s aero from Softpedia. The conclusion is:
- You have to fulfill the minimum hardware requirements to enable this feature on your Vista basic. The minimum requirements are:
- VGA card with support for DirectX 9 graphics WDDM Driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (The card should have minimum feature of Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware and 32 bits per pixel).
- Open Regedit window to edit the Windows Registry by executing
Regedit. - After the registry window opened, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > DWM registry key.
- Set Composition registry key to 1 and Composition Policy registry key to 2.
- Restart the Desktop Windows Manager Session Manager service. You can do this by executing
net stop uxsms and net start uxsmscommand - Restart your Vista home basic, then you should be enjoying your Vista Aero experience.
