There are many softwares that enable you to copy a cd content to cd directly. You don’t have to spent your money to do it, since there are tons of free and opensource software. What i like is Infrarecorder.
After you have installed the infra recorder, click the Actions > Copy Disc > to a Compact Disc menu on the menu bar.
Real Media for Linux is a software to play Real Media files, and tons of other multimedia softwares (eg: RealAudio, RealVideo, MP3, 3GP Video, Flash, SMIL 2.0, JPEG, GIF, PNG, RealText, Ogg Vorbis, RealPix and Ogg Theora.). It’s free for Linux although it seems it’s not open source.
The 11th version is already here. Download it from Real Player download section for Linux. To install the player, check the steps from learnsimply.net. For Ubuntu, the download can be done from here.

There are many CHM Makers nowadays, but what i will tell you is better, since it’s Free just as beer/tea (for whom considering beer is not good ;-)) and also free just as speech (although that it’s build with VB.NET).
It’s name is MSWord2CHM, this software will change your Word .doc document into CHM by first convert it to HTML and XHTML.
Wan’t to know more, just click it’s project site from Sourceforge. It’s open source, so you don’t need to worry about malware and spyware.
